Most people
believe that some days are special because of what happened on that day. The
common one may be their birthday…most people celebrate their birthday and they
consider it special. Others may as well celebrate their birthdays even after
they passed away if they were highly prominent in their community.
Many
religious leaders and preachers have won the feelings of their followers. As a
result, their followers worship them, build churches in their names, and
celebrate their birthdays monthly and/or annually. Their followers consider
them as “saints”.
Many prominent
social and political leaders have also won the respect of their societies and
hence their birthdays are either remembered or colorfully celebrated. It is
common to hear heroic stories from all over the world. The media reports
special events with the heading “This day in history.” Or something related to
that.
Some
societies, countries or continents celebrate their independence days…
especially in Africa. They presume such days as unique, on which the whole
nation shall rejuvenate. Victory songs resonate across a nation. The birthdays
of freedom fighters are remembered or celebrated and media organizations repeat
their names and deeds.
Well, it is
good to celebrate special days. But today is more special; because, you, the
special one is here standing taller, walking up right with dignity and swinging
with lighter footsteps than ever. You are here feeling what it really means to
be alive… how precious life is when you think over it in a very relaxed manner.
You are fully enjoying life minute by minute and second by second inhaling and exhaling
a priceless air deeply.
Today is
special not because of the events that have happened in the past. No! The past
has already gone… it is nothing more than a mere story. You can neither be proud nor
feel sorry for it… there is nothing worthy of worrying over a spilled milk. Today is
special only because of you. It does not matter what happened in the past or
what will happen next. Let the past and the future worry for what happened or
will happen.
