During the Stone Age the caveman used to utilize
extremely primitive weapons made of stone. Later on, sharper materials such as
machetes, axes and swords were used to slay the necks of enemies or slash their body
parts. These weapons could kill individuals in agony, their gash oozing too
much blood but not all rivals at once. As those weapons were perceived ineffective,
man needed more advanced instruments to protect him from danger and hence,
replaced them with metallic weapons.
However, even the metallic weapons of the Iron Age
were not able to satisfy his needs. Man therefore, invented different kinds of
rifles. With the rifles man could aim at his opponents even at a distant place.
He could shoot his targets and kill them mercilessly to quench the thirst of
his little ego. Through time, man introduced mass destructive weapons such as
biological weapons, atomic and nuclear bombs that can destroy a country or even
the world as a whole. Long distance projectile weapons such as missiles and
anti missile missiles have also been innovated as time goes by. But, even these
highly sophisticated weapons never enabled man to achieve his craving to
conquer his perceived enemies once and for all. The more enemies he killed the,
more other myriads of enemies man attracted, just like disturbing the beehive.
For instance, during the Second World War, Adolf Hitler used all kinds of mass
destructive weapons of that time and indiscriminately massacred about six
million Jews. He mercilessly killed his enemies but they defeated him. Now he is known for his diabolical invention of the holocaust. He
is considered like a monster whose name buried with his body forever. The name 'Hitler' is banned throughout Europe, no one will be named as such.
Therefore, man recognized latter on that all the
weapons he has discovered so far could not bring him a a magical power. Man
knew that he could win many battles but never the whole war. All sophisticated weapons he fired at his opponents could destroy many lives, yet sooner or later, they backlash against him. As a result, he
needed other more effective weapons in order to subdue his enemies totally. To
do so, man has to think deeply and critically. He has to be wiser and smarter
than ever. Then, after an inward look and self reflection, man invented the
most powerful weapon ever…the pen.
The invention of the pen was a sea change for modern
man. This miraculous little weapon never needs any physical force, neither
does it need any verbal intimidation, it needs winning the hearts of others
peacefully. It needs literacy, how to write effectively, express oneself openly
and jot down ones’ ideas neatly and clearly. It needs self understanding and then understanding others... feeling how others feel. Henceforth, man won his fellow men without any limitation of time and space. Man won men not physically as before rather mentally and spiritually. He conquered himself through love and then conquered others as well.At last, boom! The
torch of peace, harmony and long lasting love was fired. William Shakespeare, "Bard of
Avon", for example was among the most extraordinary writers of all time
who used the pen sagely. And to this very day, his fellow men pay homage to his
dramas, plays and poems in a perfect ecstasy. Shakespeare had been mentally and spiritually strong and victorious almost three centuries before Hitler was born, and none defeated till today. The mighty of the pen unshakable to such extent.
Yes! The pen is mightier than the sword, and thanks
to its inventors the war has almost been won; though, there are many people who
don’t understand this magic wand still now. They should better stop using
primitive weapons and rather learn how to manipulate the power of the mighty pen.
